The Positive Side of High Gas Prices

During these record breaking times of ridiculous gas prices, I was pondering if there are any positive aspects. Of course, I have tremendous compassion for all the people who are struggling during these hard times. I also noticed that unfortunately it often takes a crisis for people and society to make major changes.
The alternative energies have been available for many years and they were not very popular for a few reasons. However, the high gas prices and problems resulting from dependency on oil from other countries have motivated people and governments to do the right thing for our planet and nationally security. Now we are all very interested in the available technology and exploring more healthier energy solutions.
Another positive is that many people will be spending more time home with their neighbors, friends, families, and themselves. People will need to re-evaluate their priorities. With less travel they may even have time to meditate, exercise, prepare healthy meals, read books, and explore their hobbies and talents.
Most couples would say that they miss having more time together. Children are needing quality time and attention to feel important, worthy, lovable and good enough.
Money is not the root of all evil, nor is it the key to happiness. I have had many wealthy clients who were successful and fortunate from society's perspective who were miserable. That is because happiness is an inside job. When I help people heal their emotional wounds and raise their self-esteem, they experience a new found happiness just being themselves.
